Component Golf Clubs Versus Brand Name Golf Clubs

On several occasions I have played a round of golf with someone who after watching me hit a good drive with my custom-made component driver asks, "what are you hitting?"  After showing them my custom driver they ask if they can try it.  They give it a try, usually with a good result, and then comment on how they like it and could use a new driver.  The next time I see them they will come up to me and show me their new name brand driver, which does not fit them or have the correct shaft for their swing because they bought it off the rack at some discount sporting goods store. These stores stock the same club to fit everyone regardless of ability, body size, swing characteristics etc.

There is a common misconception that a golf club is inferior if it does not have the big brand name.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.  Custom clubmaking and component golf clubs have become a major force in the golf industry.  Golf club components and name brand clubs are all made from the same materials.  Most investment cast irons are made from 431 or 17-4 stainless steel which is the most common steel used in irons that are not forged.  Forged irons are forged from carbon steel.   Most drivers today, because of the oversize heads, are made from titanium which is much lighter and stronger than steel.  Another thing that the component clubs and name brand clubs have in common is that they are all made overseas, mostly in China.  That's right, all of the major brand names are made in the same foundries in China that the component heads are made.

Like all the brand names, major component names like Snake Eyes, Golfsmith, Dynacraft, Killer Bee, and Acer have their own research and development departments as well designing golf club heads that are on the cutting edge of technology.  They are not copycat or clone heads.

The one big advantage that name brands have is their marketing budget, and that is why name brand golf clubs cost so much.  They are paying professional golfers to play their clubs, however, the golf clubs that the pros are actually playing are not the same clubs for which you will be overpaying.  As much as one third of the cost of their clubs goes to marketing. Component companies don't pay the pros to play their clubs and that savings is passed on to you, the consumer, in lower golf club prices.

When you buy custom-made golf clubs from Birdieman Custom Clubs you are getting the largest selection of shafts and grips available from major manufacturers to truly custom fit and custom build the best golf clubs your money can buy.
